Too loose and it is off by morning. If a bonnet has ever left a line on your forehead, that is the thing to check before the fabric.\n\nSilk against satin\n\nA polyester satin bonnet glides in much the same way and costs less. What it does not do as well is leave moisture alone. If you use leave-in product, the silk is the one worth paying for.\n\nWashing it\n\nCold water, 30 degrees or below, hand wash or a gentle machine cycle in a mesh bag. Use a detergent with no enzymes and no bleach. Air dry out of direct sun and keep it out of the dryer. Iron on the lowest setting if you iron it at all.\n\nWhat it will not do\n\nIt will not make hair grow and it will not repair damage that is already there. It takes friction and moisture loss out of the night, which is a small thing done every night.",
